Today the Lady Trojans played the Lady Senators, their cross town rivals.  Wendell played a 3-4-3 formation on the field.  We planned all week for this game and tonight the planning payed off.  Weather was once again hot so hydration breaks were given in both half of the game.  It became a back and forth battle, but the Lady Trojans found and opportunity and took it.  On a run from our side of the field Lizeth Alvarado took the ball and sent it through two of the Gooding defenders were Jenny Diaz took the opportunity and scored.  The Lady Trojans were pumped up now and continued to pressure Gooding.  At half time the score was 1 to 0 Wendell.  In the early part of the second half Maria Jimenez got a hold of the ball and passed to Lizeth Alvarado who scored.  The Lady Trojans continued the pressure, and 10 minutes later, Gooding was called on a foul and Wendell was awarded a free kick.  Sophia Martinez stepped up, took the kick and the score was now 3 - 0 Wendell.  Late into the second half Wendell again pushed through the defense of Gooding with a pass from Maria Jimenez to Lizeth Alvarado who scored her second goal of the game.  The Lady Trojans played great soccer.  Next they face Buhl away on Monday, 9/10 at 6:15 pm.  Come to Buhl and support our girls soccer team.  GO LADY TROJANS.
