This afternoon the Lady Trojans traveled to Kimberly to play in Round 2 of the District Tournament for 3A.  Game started at 4:30 pm, it was cold.  When these two meet previously Wendell won the first game and Kimberly won the second game.  The winner of todays game would advance to the championship game on Wednesday.  Kimberly scored first.  About 20 minutes into the game Wendell scored a goal from Yadira Guzman.  Both teams continued to fight for each possession of the ball.  Late in the first half Kimberly scored their second goal.  Going into the second half Wendell needed to score to create a tie, and push into OT.  In tournament OT is golden goal (First team to score wins), if still tied after 2 - 10 minute half then it goes to PK.  Wendell kept pressuring Kimberly and spent the majority of the game in their half.  Halfway into the second half, Nadia Guadarama passed the ball to Lizeth Alvarado, and she scored.  Now the game was 2 - 2.  Now the pressure was on and both teams knew the urgency to score, as not to force OT.  Wendell continued to keep the pressure on.  With about 4 minutes in the game, the ball went out over the end line on Wendell's half.  Kimberly had the corner kick.  Ball was kicked into the box, Wendell cleared the ball out toward the corner, Kimberly kicked the ball back across the goal and into the upper left corner of the goal.  Score was now 3 - 2 Kimberly.  Wendell pushed player up to counter, but just ran out of time.  Next Wendell will face the winner of the Community School - Declo game, on Wednesday at 4:30 pm.  Thanks for everyone who came out to cheer us on, on this cold night.  #webelieve.
